Long time language enthusiast. I try to contribute pronunciations in English as often as I can. I use as neutral an American pronunciation as possible so that the words would sound typically American. However, for words that are local for me I generally pronounce with my native Boston accent.

I contribute words in English, Russian and Greek mostly. I speak Russian, which I learned many years ago and then went on to study at University. I continue to study Greek and am probably somewhere around A2+. I also continue to study Russian which I have studied for many years.

Recently I spent some time learning a little German, partly for travel and partly out of personal interest as my great grandparents came to the US from Germany in the 19th Century. I've also spent time working on French.

American English is varied in its dialects, like most languages. My native accent is Boston which most learners might have some amount of trouble with as we frequently do not pronounce the letter 'r' where it belongs and we insert it sometimes where it does not belong! I learned a more neutral way of speaking when I moved away from Boston many years ago. But then I came back and (luckily) it all came rushing back . . . There is an excellent and very technical description about the Boston accent in wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_accent).

Our accent is usually butchered in the movies and on TV. The majority of people who try to do the Boston accent really stand out as phony, which in some way has sensitized me to why things like Forvo are so important. You have to get the accent right, so listen to natives pronounce things correctly and it will help tremendously.
